About naturopathy

What is naturopathy? What does a naturopath do?+

Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health that recognises that the body, mind, spirit and environment are all interconnected. A naturopath looks beyond symptoms to understand the individual as a whole and explore the underlying factors that may be affecting their health.

How can naturopathy help?+

The focus is on supporting the body's natural inherent ability to heal, addressing the causes of imbalance and empowering each person to take an active role in their own long-term health and wellbeing.

Is naturopathy evidence-based?+

Short answer is yes! Although naturopathy has a traditional foundation, contemporary practice draws heavily on scientific research and biomedical knowledge.

Can a naturopath work alongside my GP?+

Absolutely! A naturopath can work alongside your GP and other healthcare professionals as part of an integrated approach to care.

Appointments

What happens during my first consultation?+

Please allow at least 90 minutes to 2 hours for your first consultation. During the appointment, we review the health of your body systems, as many as I feel is necessary to help you. I will be asking you various questions about your lifestyle, diet, personal and family health history, to try and uncover the cause behind why you're not feeling well and to get a deeper understanding of your situation. Towards the end, you and I together are going to work out how to implement my suggestions and the goals we come up with and make it work for you, your lifestyle and your budget. After the appointment, you will receive your personalised treatment plan via email. This plan might involve changes to your diet, exercise, and we might include some supplementation. I may also suggest some investigative testing to get further information on the biochemistry of your body.

What should I bring?+

Please complete the Naturopathic Initial Intake Form before your appointment. If you have been keeping a food diary, please bring that along.

Do I need recent blood tests?+

If you have any pathology results, please bring these to your appointment.

How many appointments will I need?+

Every person's health journey is unique, so it's difficult to say in advance how many consultations you may need. We'll review progress together and tailor your care as we go, according to your individual needs and goals.

Can I have an online consultation?+

Yes, telehealth consultations are available through the booking page.

Practical

Can I claim through private health insurance?+

Some private health insurance policies may provide rebates for naturopathy. As policies vary, I recommend checking directly with your health fund to confirm whether naturopathy is included and what rebate may apply.

What happens if I need advice between consultations?+

For simple questions between appointments, you're welcome to reach out via WhatsApp, SMS or email, provided they can be answered within approximately 5 minutes. For more detailed or clinical questions that require additional time or consideration, please book a follow-up consultation so I can give your concerns the time and attention they deserve.

Can I cancel or reschedule?+

Where a cancellation is made within the required notice period, fees may be transferred towards a future appointment. Late cancellations and missed appointments may forfeit the prepaid consultation fee, in accordance with the Cancellation, Rescheduling and Non-Attendance Policy. I understand that unexpected circumstances and emergencies can arise, and these will always be considered with care and on an individual basis.
